This is where I’ll be sharing what’s happening with the music, new releases, production experiments and a bit of what goes on behind the scenes.
I’m also building a completely new website for Bridger’s Trance Music, including my own WordPress theme and music plugin, so there will probably be quite a bit about that along the way too.
Rather than grab a ready-made theme and a collection of plugins, I’ve decided to build the site around how I actually want to use it.
The plugin is called Music Artist Player & Carousel (MAPC). My plan is for it to grow into something that can be used by record labels, artists and fans, not just on my own website. Of course it will be tested here on this website first with latest WordPress installs, i plan to add it to GitHub soon.
The main idea is to make it easy to use for both the website owner and the person listening to the music. It needs to make adding and managing music straightforward, while giving visitors an easy way to listen, explore releases and find where they can buy or download them.
Buy links can be added just as easily, whether the music is being sold directly from the website or through an external store or platform. The aim is to keep it flexible rather than tying it to one particular service.
So, yes, I’m basically building the website while I’m building the tools that run it!
That also means this site is very much a work in progress. I’m testing the theme, changing things, breaking things and hopefully fixing them again. Some of the features will probably change as the site develops, and there will no doubt be a few things that don’t work quite how I expected them to at first.
But that’s part of the fun.
It’s not just the website I’m experimenting with either. I’m also building my own VSTs and other music tools, trying out different ideas for creating and shaping sounds along the way. I’m testing everything on the oldest Mac I own, because if I can get it running on that, there’s a good chance it’ll work just about anywhere!
The music itself is still the reason for all of this. I’ve been making trance for years, heavily influenced by the melodic and progressive side of 90s trance. If you’re reading this, you’ll probably know the legends — Ferry Corsten, Tiësto and plenty of others. This is the music I grew up with and danced to when I was a young whippersnapper!
Music has always been a hobby for me, and that’s still how I see it. I’m not chasing fame, fortune or trying to turn it into a career — I just enjoy making trance and seeing where an idea takes me. Actually, fortune… hmmm, maybe!!!
You’ll also see my new releases appearing on the site as I put the new plugin through its paces. It’s a good way to test MAPC with real music rather than just dummy content.
